Some more before/after house shots..

This weekend, not too much knitting got done - I had to work all day on Saturday, and on Sunday, Aaron had treated me to a spa day for our anniversary (heaven). But, we did have another cool thing happen in the house.

Aaron's favorite room is the dining room. Remember about 2 years ago when we changed it from a room with mint green carpeting and apple blossom wallpaper? Well, his father is a really skilled woodworker, and for Christmas, told us to pick out a piece of furniture we'd like him to build for us. We decided on a built in for the dining room. Here is the before (well, kind of during) picture:

Our dining room has this strange little 'alcove' area - we used to have a little cabinet in there - but it just screamed for a built in. Bernie built this for us out of maple, and Aaron and I picked out the granite counter top:
I think it looks AWESOME. I keep on walking into the room to look at it. In this picture, there is still a wooden backspash to be installed... but it's just perfect. Exactly what we wanted. This next picture shows all the great storage inside:
On the lefthand side, those are nice wide drawers for my bigger serving platters. The bottom drawer is a really awesome wine rack design that Bernie came up with. In the middle, we'll put linens - and on the end? Our beer frig, baby!

I'll get back to the knitting next, but just had to show off this great new addition to our house!

That beer fridge made me laugh. It's all about priorities. The built in is lovely and fits in so perfectly.

That's awesome, how wonderful having someone in the family that is so handy at making beautiful things.
