In my family, birthday celebrations were HUGE. You would wake up on your birthday, and get whatever it is you wanted for breakfast (I would always pick pancakes), and your present would be sitting on your placemat, ready to be opened. There would be balloons, and at night, you got your requested dinner and yummy cake. So long and the balloons were afloat, and the cake lasted (it was just me and my mother) so did your birthday.
Even though I'm 'older' (if turning 29 counts as older), I LOVE my birthday. I always take a day off of work to do whatever it is that I want to do, and invite a bunch of my friends over for a dinner/party. This year, I'm taking tomorrow off (Saturday is my birthday), and getting a massage first thing in the morning. Then, I'm driving to Northampton to Webs (aka yarn heaven) and treating myself to some Circus yarn for a great coat I've been dying to make. I may get come other things too, but that is the main focus.
My mother wants to make a scarf similar to a chenille scarf I made last year that she loves. She wants the pattern, also, which makes me laugh, as it is just a plain garter stitch scarf... as I let the beautiful handpainted yarn do the work. I may just bring the scarf with me to give to her - it isn't like I don't have enough scarves! Anyway - if she doesn't just want my scarf, we'll also be looking for yarn for Ma, which will be fun.
I've gotten a lot of knitting done in the last couple of days. I'm halfway through the front of my Super Cute Baby sweater. I've had a crisis, and managed to spill coffee on it. Sigh. I'm sure I can get the stain out - but geez. I'm also almost done with the right front of my Mohair cardigan, and that just leaves the left hand side and finishing to go!
I went to my quilt class last night. We had a blast - I loved showing off my completed quilts (I promise pictures soon!). We are making a star sampler quilt (I'm going to use mine as a wall hanging for our living room), and I made two stars yesterday. I think the quilt maybe has 12 stars total?
Have a great Thursday (Friday for me!)
